About the Site

This blog is a collaboration of resources geared towards providing information and helping parents of special needs children. However, it is important to note that the term special needs can encompass a wide range of topics, such as children with intellectual and development disabilities and children living in foster care. The writers of this are interested in these topics because they have affected a part of our lives.

Michelle is interested in eventually being a foster parent, Crystal is a parent of a child with a developmental disability and Kristin supports children with disabilities and children in foster care.
Our intention with this blog is to focus on these two topics (foster care and disabilities) and provide you with important and relevant information grounded in current research and trends. The blog is divided into three sections. One section focuses specifically on parenting and general family processes in foster care.
Another section will be looking into parenting children with specific intellectual and developmental disabilities. The last section will tie the first two together and will offer information on parenting children with intellectual and developmental disabilities in foster care.

As students and researchers we hope that the information we provide here will help you make knowledgeable decisions with whatever your situation might be. Please feel free to contact us with any further questions, comments or concerns.
